“To Resist” means “to make a stand or make efforts in opposition; act in opposition; offer resistance”. Being anchored to a specific point and strive against the power that wants to move you forward or elsewhere. Something related to existence it self. (Azzurra D'agostino)
“Resistance” is a very important period in Italian history during the XXth century. From september 8th 1943 to april 25th in 1945 the country was divided in two groups, one related to Nazism and one composed by soldiers that abandoned italian army because they didn't recognize the power of Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini. These two groups engaged a cruel civil war between each other expecially in the North, with a focus in Emilia Romagna and Tuscany. What better example of Resistance than what those extraordinary people gave us during the War? This is what this show is based upon. In any way, Resistance is not just an historical moment simply linked to a specific country, it is something bigger than that, it adopts many shapes and implies many questions, like the one once asked by a partisan woman : “Freedom is not given once and for all, you know that, don’t you?” Therefore, this is, more than anything, an occasion to ask oneself a few questions and to try and answer them, although, only apparently, they may be taken for granted. We could say, this is a way to try to Resist.
This show can also take place otherwise than in theatre.
